Used in organic synthesis.

Stannous isooctate is a white or yellowish brown paste, sometimes called stannous octoate. Soluble in petroleum ether, insoluble in water. It is the basic catalyst for the production of polyurethane foam, mainly used for the gelation reaction of polyether-polyurethane foam, and can also be used as an anti-aging agent for urethane foam. Used as a catalyst for polyurethane synthesis and room temperature vulcanization of silicone rubber. It is also used as an epoxy resin catalyst curing agent. During curing, stannous octoate is more catalytically active than dibutyltin dilaurate. If the two are used in combination, the effect is better than that used alone, which can take into account the reaction speed and curing speed. Since the divalent tin compound is easily oxidized and decomposed by oxygen and water vapor in the air, it must be sealed for nitrogen protection during storage. It must be sealed to avoid high temperature and excessive humidity to prevent the decline in activity or failure.
